It's supposed to be cold. That's what I keep reminding myself. If I made up Indian names for the months that match my moods, January would have to be Whining Moon. Cold weather in October and November feels good - it's a relief from the heat. December is such a lively month that I barely notice the cold. Then, along comes poor January - the holidays are over but winter is far from over, and most of us have had our fill of the cold.
If I had time to go and play in the cold, I think I might enjoy it more, but at the moment all it does is make my drudgery more unpleasant. It's hard to get up at 4:30, and harder still when it's cold and dark and dreary. See - I told you it was Whining Moon!
Still, we're more than halfway through the month, and before we know it will be February (which can be cold and unpleasant, too, but at least it's short!). February is followed by March, which can still be cold here, but we definitely start to see signs of spring. It's really only a few weeks away - we just have to hold out a little longer!
Hang in there, everybody - spring will come again!

Good Morning Whining Moon! January seems to be the toughest month to get through. In addition to interior painting we are having to get repairs on the front porch of our home, so this Jan. is looking particulary muddy and dreary! Can't wait for March and those hints of Spring.
I am sure you will make it... After all you have been struggling through I bet for years in this weather. Now If you transplanted myself to your neighborhood you would likely have to get earplugs so could ignore my bit..ing. I think you deserve to complain a little.
I'd probably be Whining Moon too Terri. At least today I have sunny skies and a temp of 61. I plan on getting out and enjoying it as much as possible.
Hello, Mildred! I hope your porch work goes quickly and isn't too inconvenient!
Julia, that's a good point - and if you ever feel the need to vent, please feel free to come here! :)
Susie, our day warmed up a bit and I got outside for awhile in the sun - that really helps, doesn't it?
Terri, I am so with you on not being thrilled about the month of January. I am always so glad to get through it and have it behind me. February is often bad here too, but knowing January is over makes it easier to get through somehow. Hang in there.
