Our little garden and chicken flock are productive right now. We have a virtual farmer's market in the yard - I love it! If we had to, we could feed ourselves exclusively with things we've grown right here. That notion makes me absurdly happy - I love this time of year!

To me there is nothing like walking out to your garden and picking your own food. I wish mine had done better this year.

Oh I love it! Is that butternut squash? I've never grown that, but I love it! My favorite thing is to go out in the garden and pick a big platter of tomatoes and basil and drizzle it with olive oil and sea salt for lunch~~~MMMM!

Cris, that sounds wonderful! This butternut squash is from a volunteer plant that grew in the remains of last year's compost pile - clearly they like compost!
What a beautiful basket of goodies. I fought through the weeds yesterday and discovered one canteloupe and tons of blooms on its and the watermelon vines. Can't see the pepper plants, barely the tomatoes. We have been getting a few maters off of them but they are hard.
Hopefully next year will be better once we get our tiller working.
