Boldly Going... Back to Bed!

I have a confession to make. I am a Trekkie. I have been since I was at least six years old, watching the original Star Trek series (in syndication, naturally!) with my dad. My husband and the boys like Star Trek, as well. So, the new Star Trek movie has been discussed (once or twice!) at our house. Yesterday, I came home from my call shift and the boys were all set to go out - they wanted to celebrate Mother's Day!

We went out for burgers first - there's a new Red Robin near us, so we decided to try it. The burgers were really good, the onion ring tower was heavenly and the service was amazing. We had a really good time. We have a new favorite burger joint (sorry, Five Guys!) and we'll definitely be stopping there again.

After dinner, we went to see the new Star Trek movie at the IMAX theater. All I can say is wow - the IMAX screen really does make a difference. And the movie? I was an original Star Trek fan, so I really loved revisiting all of those characters that I grew up watching. I enjoyed the movie tremendously - I'd watch it again, and I don't often say that about a movie. All in all, a very good Mother's Day, but after all of that I am worn out. I have today off and I think I'm going to go take a nap!

Before I hit the hay again, though, let me tell you about another apron giveaway over at The Apron Goddesses: Time and Again Aprons Giveaway bundle. You can win FOUR aprons this time - three children's aprons and one adult one. So hurry on over and enter, and win a bundle of aprons! Oh, and live long, and prosper!!!

were going to go see this for a couple of reasons ( If I really needed any) we are both trekkies and besides that it's done by one of my favorites in the bizz. Director JJ Abrams. He also directs LOST which is my all time favorite TV show. So, I have been looking up IMAX theaters and will probably go on the weekend. I will Joey could go too but he will be at his fathers house that weekend.

Oh what fun! I'm glad you got to go see it. I haven't seen it, but have heard that it is really good and worth the time to see. Sounds like it was a good way to celebrate Mother's Day! :D

Lisa, I think I can safely say that if you are a trekkie you will love the movie. Wish your little guy could go, but there are one or two mature scenes in there.

Thank you, Daisy, we really enjoyed the evening!

Oh thanks Terri for telling me about the mature scenes, it makes me feel so much better about him missing it. I always feel so awful when ever we do anything without him. It's just hard to always work around his schedule. Thanks, that will make my day alot better !!

Lisa, it might be a movie for him to see when he's a bit older. :)Like you, I feel guilty doing things without the kids but some things they don't want (or need!) to see!

Mildred, thank you - I hope you had a good weekend and a good Mother's Day, as well!

My husband can't wait to see the new Star Trek! Too bad we don't live closer to an IMAX. That would be so awesome.
Sounds like you had a really grand Mother's Day. We had hamburgers, too--from the drive-thru at McDonald's!

Sounds like you had a wonderful Mothers Day. Nothing better than that.

I have a friend (from high school) who likes Star Trek. He went to the new one today as a matter of fact and said it was great.

I, myself, am not much into it. I'll watch 'em, sometimes.... if they are on... and I'm in the mood. lol

Again, glad you enjoyed your day. Sounds like it was fun.

Susie, we enjoyed it. My sons (who are not big on Star Trek) liked it, too!

Amy, the IMAX was awesome, but almost too big, if that makes any sense at all. Still, it was a fun movie.

Wolfie, thank you, and I hope you had a great Mother's Day, as well!
