Garden shots

I thought I'd share a few shots of my little garden. This is a strawberry bed that I built out of salvaged bricks. The birds think of it as their personal buffet.

This is a mixed bed - there are cucumbers, a couple of types of melons and some bell peppers in this one. I'm going to see how the cucumbers do as climbers once they get little bigger.

Here's the tomato bed - they look unhappy here, but this was taken just after transplanting. They're much happier now!

And, finally, some happy girls on their evening walk - aren't they pretty? They look sweet and innocent, don't they? Not at all like the marauding pansy-killers that they actually are!

I am growing my cucumbers up a trellis and it is working great! Of course, there's no fruit yet but they look good!

The garden looks great. We're not growing anything this year which makes me sad. But I didn't get to it.

All your growing goodies look wonderful, Terri. I hope you have a big harvest.

Try to keep those chickens out of there, though! HA! They're not as innocent as they seem! :D

I wish I had nice little manageable sized plots like that. I think strawberries are my favorite fruit. I love anything that tastes even close to one! And where's the "pink chickens?" ;~P

Sorry I've not stopped by since a while back. I've been busy finishing an article for the local paper's monthly "Going Green" page. It was about acid mine runoff and how manganese and iron oxide are being recovered from local watershed streams and creeks affected by years of neglect and nasty chemicals seeping from abandoned mines. Instead of going to the landfill as hazardous waste, the manganese and iron oxide are being used in pottery glazes. It went a little over a thousand words (1,285 words to be exact). I had to manipulate lots of photos too. I love my job as a freelance writer, but it don't pay beans. I try not to be too "angervin" about it.

I love the strawberry bed. So rustic. And yes those pansey killers look very innocent.

Your garden looks so neat and tidy! Nice. I also think those chickens are stalking your vegetables... Im just saying "watch out." Our ladies have been banned from free range for a while due to similar transgressions.
