Gratitude And a Great Giveaway!!

I listen to a morning talk radio show on the way in to work, and the host encourages you to think of three things for which you are grateful every morning. It's good for me, because I am generally grumpy in the morning. Don't get me wrong - I love mornings. I just don't love them quite as much when I have to get out in the cold and dark and drive to school, where I work all day for free. So, his suggestion every morning puts me off thinking how grumpy I am, and puts me onto thinking about how fortunate I am.

And I am fortunate. I am healthy. I have a husband who loves me, and really dotes on me. I have children who are happy and healthy. I have a very good friend and sister-in-law next door. I have healthy pets. I live in a beautiful area of the country - I can see the Smokey Mountains off in the distance whenever I leave the house. Right now it is particularly beautiful because of the fall colors. I have the ability to further my education, and am not persecuted for doing so.

The great thing about it is that once you get started, the list expands - you find all sorts of things to be thankful for! So, can you list at least three things you're thankful for? I'll bet you can!

'Tis the season to give thanks - sometimes we lose sight of how lucky we are - thanks for reminding me! Oh, and I'll be thankful when that Flatten Your Stomach in 10 minutes add is off your blog!!!!! It is intimidating me!

How the heck did they get "Flatten your Tummy" from what I posted? Sometimes the adsense thing is kind of warped. But, hey, if we ever earn anything we'll buy a flock of chickens for someone in an underdeveloped country through Heifer International. :)

I have to ask. Is the photo you posted taken at Dry Falls between Franklin, NC and Highlands, NC ? I lived in Franklin for many many years and loved taken children and grandchildren to all the different falls in the area but Dry Falls is my favorite.

Peggy, it might be - we went to Sapphire Valley Ski Resort on a ski vacation and stopped and saw various falls on the way home. I made the boys pose at several, but that photo is one of my favorites!

This is a great post, Terri! We all need to remember how many blessings we have. I have way too many to count. :D

Thank you Terri for this inspiring post. I am exactly the same every morning and I have no idea why. I am going to give this a try and be more positive. I have recently come to realise that my mood of a morning affects my children and when they are then grumpy in return I know it is only me to blame. When I wake up positive I have different children. It's sometimes easy to forget how blessed we are and to give thanks. D. :=)

Daisy, I posted this because I need to constantly remind myself - glad I'm not the only one!

Dee, it really has made a difference for me. Your mileage may vary, though! :)
