My hens are still laying eggs - here we are, close to halfway through November, and I'm still getting 6-8 eggs a day. One of the older hens is in moult, so I know she's not laying. Poor thing - she really looks pathetic - big patches of naked chicken skin showing everywhere. I need to post a pic. But that leaves ten hens not in moult, and most of them are still laying.
I gave away several dozen eggs last week, because we were beginning to be overrun. I know we'll use quite a few up during the Christmas baking season, and that's just when the girls will be slowing more, so I'm not complaining, by any means. I guess what I'm doing is bragging - bragging on my happy, hardworking girls!

I wish my girls were laying like that ! I got mine late in the year so I am still waiting for my first egg. However, they did get dressed up pretty last week when joey put on their finery. http://nhgoodlife.blogspot.com/2008/11/fine-feathered-friends.html
lol
I saw that - they are some sharp chickens, aren't they? 'Cause every girl's crazy 'bout a sharp dressed bird... :)

I keep telling my husband we need to get some chickens. We eat eggs so seldom--it's half-a-dozen a meal, at least--that I don't know if I remember how to cook them!
Go chickens, go! :D This post makes me hungry for some scrambled eggs, Terri! Congrats that they are doing so well for you.
You gotta love those girls - we need to freeze some.... I'm glad the time changed because I can hear Jeb again as I get up in the morning! He was sleeping in.
Thanks, everyone, for the comments! Amy, if you rarely eat eggs I don't think you should get chickens, because you'll have eggs coming out of your ears!
Daisy, scrambled eggs do sound good! Maybe we'll have breakfast for dinner one noght this week.
Melissa, you are kind to put up with all our noise and mess next door!
