My Christmas spirit, that is! Last night, we were in the operating room, working on a patient who, based on his behavior before the operation, will almost certainly NOT appreciate all the effort that went into fixing his fractured neck. And we often play music, to pass the time, and make the setting a little more pleasant.
The surgeon wanted seasonal music. There was a debate over what that meant, and finally the group consensus was that we really don't have Thanksgiving music, so Christmas music it was. And I was tired, and the room was cold, and I was trying to come up with an appropriate cocktail of pain medication, nausea medication and sedatives to ensure that Mr. Unpleasant would wake up breathing and comfortable and NOT trying to fight the staff with his newly repaired neck.
Suddenly - I don't know where it came from, but suddenly I had a rush of joy. I was happy - happy to be right where I was, with all the hardworking folks I see every day, happy to be working the trauma shift, even happpy to be trying to outsmart Mr. Unpleasant's personality. And happy that Christmas is a mere 40-something days away. I guess Somebody up there knew I needed a boost, and sent me my Christmas spirit a little early. Thank You!
So, when my buddy Lisa suggested a blogger ornament swap, my first thought was, "Count me in!" And then I remembered - I can't craft my way out of a paper bag. Bummer. But, hey, you know the ornaments you put toward the bottom of the tree so if a kitty has to bat one or a puppy chews one, you won't really care? I am all over those! So if you join in this ornie swap, you will have two ornaments that won't upset you if they get chewed up. Or batted about. Or squashed! Lisa assures me that I can play, too, even if I'm not crafty, so please consider signing up so that there are actually some GOOD ornies in this swap. Because the front of the tree needs something pretty!
And, the giveaway - bloggers are such generous people that you could almost do a "Giveaway of the Day" post, couldn't you? So, for today's giveaway, visit Sandy at For the Love of Prims - she's celebrating 100 posts with a really great primitive gift pack, and you don't want to miss out on the chance to win it!
